I do use the 2.4.18 patch too.

I don't see this behaviour: 80% of the measured samples have a 10-14
microsec latency.

But I do see sometimes (seems to be when I overload the Linux kernel
with network card interrupts...) the latency going as bad as 300
microseconds. I don't know if this value is normal (I suppose it's
not) and I don't know if it's caused by the 2.4.18 port (didn't test
the official 2.4.4 version...).
