you can pass it the mem=32M kernel commandline option to tell the kernel
that ther are only 32MB.

for applications this probably is the glibc problem - see the minidoc and minifaq at

you need to compile your apps with glibc-2.0.7 and I know it works iwth
gcc-2.95.2/3 but I don't know anything about 2.96 - there also is a 
minibuilder (half done at best) at ftp://ftp.fsmlabs.at/pub/rtlinux/minirtl/pre-stuff/ 
and some docs on compiling glibc-2.0.7 with current gcc's at 
http://www.fsmalbs.at/documents.html

for kernel modules I would guess that the kernel is not the same - minirtl is behind 
(up to version 3.0 - no 3.1 yet...) so check the kernel that you are using on MiniRTL.
