This was just one thing: I had a problem with the including at line 125 (. 
$RTNET_KCONFIG_FILE) because '.' was not in my PATH

One additional note: within the 82574L driver all special features like jumbo 
frames, packet split, msi interrupts are switched off by commenting out the 
relating functions. I think, if the driver runs stable at the current state, 
this features could be enabled too.
