yup yup... scraping is the only current way to go in this case.

although, another cheap/easy possibility is that we always upload the
rubygems package to the rubygems download dir... unfortunately, it
looks like some of the mirrors aren't rsyncing correctly:
http://gemmirror.xaop.net/gems/
gives a 403/forbidden.
