In the API docs i found this note:

> http://www.prototypejs.org/api/array/indexof
> Note: this uses the == equivalence operator, not the === strict equality 
> operator.

but that's not correct, because last version (1.6.0.2) uses the "==="
operator:

if (!Array.prototype.indexOf) Array.prototype.indexOf = function(item,
i) {
  i || (i = 0);
  var length = this.length;
  if (i < 0) i = length + i;
  for (; i < length; i++)
    if (this[i] === item) return i;
  return -1;
};
