Interesting. I just tested this on my Ubuntu 9.04 box and it worked as expected. Sometimes I understand this sort of issue can indicate installation problems. What versions of gem and Ruby are you using? And as a separate issue, why are you trying to create a new app with such an old version of Rails? Or is this simply for testing?
