Ruby Developer for Readability Project
ReadFeed is working on a content aggregation engine with built-in
curation algorithm. We are focused on longer-form content rather than
RSS specifically, with an older and more sophisticated audience focus
(i.e. Economist or NY Times readers). ReadFeed is RSS-Evolved or
Reddit/Slashdot+Instapaper specializing in long form content.

Looking for Ruby developer to work primarily on content parsing
library. Focus on parser speed and reliability. Developer will be
taking an existing Ruby Readability (http://github.com/iterationlabs/
ruby-readability) parser and upgrade to increase speed and improve
results for parser with thousands of sites. Developer will also
creating a testing system to help measure the quality, speed and
durability of library.

Project should last a month with weekly sprints and check-ins. Project
to begin immediately.
Those applying should have experience including:
Ruby (1 year)
Basic RegEx
HTML (3+ Years) (Design or conversion)
Nokogiri/XPaths/CSS
Basic Statistics

Nice to Haves
Git/Github
In-Depth knowledge of Javascript

Experience Ruby Developer for Micro-Payment Commerce Engine

Reddit/Slashdot+Instapaper specializing in long form content.

Looking for Ruby developer to work primarily on a micro-payment
commerce engine to allow for “metering” or micro-payments as content
is consumed. Project would include:

Publisher features/uses: automated verification process for content
providers via domain method or meta-tags; credit and deposit system
for publishers; transaction logs; administration system; customization
of payment methods, including charging different amounts based on
length of content, age of content, location of user, past consumption
of user, popularity of content.
Reader features/uses: credit/debit deposit system via paypal; credit
earning for sharing of urls via outside systems; administration
system; easy to understand tracking of credits

Project should last 4-6 weeks with two week sprints; deploy commerce
system into existing infrastructure. Opportunity for more ongoing work
over time depending on initial project experience. Project would begin
in late August.

Requirements
Ruby/Rails (2 years)
E-commerce (Active Merchant, paypal, google checkout) (1 large project
or 2 smaller projects)
Server Side Credit Transaction between Users
Good understanding of security methods, Hashing, Salting, Key Pairing
ActiveRecord/MySQL 5.1
Ability to travel to NYC for meeting and interview

Nice to Haves
Redis/couchdb for transaction logs
nginx/ubuntu/gentoo
git/github
delayed_job/resque
Built e-commerce or similar complexity site from ground up
