Hello Rufus:

Rust language and Community can and will grow when it is in the Open
and not affiliated with Mozilla or any other organization. Fresh
perspective is absolutely essential.

As a case in point, please see this
https://users.rust-lang.org/t/history-and-status-quo-of-async-non-
blocking-i-o-in-rust/6441/2

It's when outsider's took JavaScript and innovated, that the language
really grew in terms of innovation, capabilities both on the client side
and server. NodeJS couldn't have ever happened at Mozilla, as an
illustration.

As far as Rust Bangalore is concerned, the thinking is very clear,

There is absolutely no affiliation with Mozilla at any point in time.

We are not accepting any gift, swag, co-branding etc. with Mozilla or
any Mozilla representative at any point in time, not even any co-
ordination.

Potential Attendees and Speakers or any body for that matter will
discover Rust Bangalore on their own.

Since the theme for each month is already defined, we have a scaffold
to work with. People can write on the meetup.com/rustox page, that
they want to speak on this topic.

If we do "meaningful" work, people will like to associate or else they will
move on. That's the "metric" and the "credo" !

Our focus is quality and meritocracy, not numbers, which are the
foundational principles of FOSS. If we created something, we have
succeeded. Otherwise, as Linus Torvalds, says, "talk is cheap, show me
the code" !

warm regards
Saifi.
