 | I switched to packaged s-nailx today s-nail-14.9.16 and get

v14.9.16 already packaged? May i ask which OS this is?

 |these warnings:

 | mailx: Warning: variable superseded or obsoleted: NAIL_NO_SYSTEM_RC
 | mailx: Warning: variable superseded or obsoleted: NAIL_EXTRA_RC
 |
 |I don't set these variables anywhere.

Hm, interesting.

  #?0|$ mail -V
mailx v14.9.15, 2019-08-17 (built for Linux)
  #?0|$ mail -v -#RXx
  #?0|$ NAIL_NO_SYSTEM_RC=x NAIL_EXTRA_RC=/dev/null mail -v -#RXx
mailx: Obsoletion warning: Please use $MAILX_NO_SYSTEM_RC instead of
$NAIL_NO_SYSTEM_RC

and

  #?0|$ s-nail -#RXx
  #?0|$
  #?0|$ NAIL_NO_SYSTEM_RC=x NAIL_EXTRA_RC=/dev/null s-nail -#RXx
s-nail: Warning: variable superseded or obsoleted: NAIL_NO_SYSTEM_RC
s-nail: Obsoletion warning: Please use $MAILX_NO_SYSTEM_RC instead of
$NAIL_NO_SYSTEM_RC
s-nail: Warning: variable superseded or obsoleted: NAIL_EXTRA_RC
s-nail: Obsoletion warning: Please use *mailx-extra-rc*, not *NAIL_EXTRA_RC*

I am sorry for all the obsoletion and backward-incompatibilities,
but we have to move forward and are getting bigger and bigger.
I want to be able to really throw away all that old cruft when v15
comes. And i really should have taken OpenBSD Mail in 2012 and
start from that minimal clean base, and eventually as time would
have passed and we would have become better people would have
switched regulary, then updating their configuration once.

Yes, and starting with v14.9.16 obsoletion warnings will occur
when data is accessed, not only when it is executed, to bring to
light all the cellar corpses that will cease to function in the
future. That does not work for commands, unfortunately.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but i hope we are getting better and
become a reliable program which can be used for real work. I hope
that is worth it. ^_^

Ciao, and a happy new year 2020 i wish!
