Hi Bill,
     After doing maybe 50 DCC installs in all kinds of engines, I have 
come to the conclusion that there are several good ways to do wiring, 
but none are really great ways!  I have also found out that a sturdy 
connection is also a large one and can be larger than the decoder 
itself.  That being said, Soundtraxx sells plug and sockets for 
individual wires (PFM used to make a similar product that might still be 
available).  For multiple wires i.e. dual headlites and number boards in 
the same area, I make my own from multi pin connectors from electronic 
surplus outlets.  These plugs will line up with NMRA DCC sockets and can 
be cut to nearly any amount of pins.  There are also several types of 
commercial mini plugs that my hobby shop sells, some are better than 
others.  The big problem is keeping the wires from looking like a birds 
nest and still keep the wires flexible and long enough to separate the 
shell from the chassis--not always easy.
