I tried to make contact with Gregg Spence yesterday. (I have his home phone number.)
To date, he hasn't replied.
The following is my and others general opinion on Del-Aire at this time.

Gregg has worked very hard over the past 12 years building up this business. He was
always very enthusiastic, energetic and always inventing better systems for his
Del-Aire products, just to make it easier for you to operate.

In S Gauge he was very popular, but wanting to get very big, he also went to national
shows to ply his wares. I remember Gregg telling me at Timonium, MD. how his products
have taken off in Garden Railroads as well as S. Gregg was always trying to get a
Model Railroader [Kalmbach] review of his products. I don't believe this ever happened.

The above being said; Gregg's business got bigger, but some shops ripped him of in
large amounts of non-pays.
As a small business sole proprietor entrepreneur, he couldn't afford the large loss'.
The man has a family and several children in college. So go figure!

To me, Gregg will probably sell the business. Perhaps he has already done that? It is
a good business that Gregg spent many years building up.Then again, just maybe
someday, he will open up Del-Aire again?

There is a company in California that sells the original products like Del-Aire.
Perhaps not as up to date as Gregg's, but if you need switch components, you may have
to go there.

I'm hoping that Gregg will be able to come back. I know we all miss him at our Lehigh
Valley S Gaugers meetings. He has always been up-beat and pleasant to be around.

In that regard .... What ever happened to Marlin Becker and the MMT Model Railroad
Supplies? Marlin has all the ACE equipment and the Archbar trucks that everyone is
asking for? Has he ever given the money back on non-fulfilled orders? Has he ever
delivered his back orders? Is Marlin still in business? Is he living?

Unlike Gregg Spence, Marlin was still accepting orders!

Ok! Ok!

This afternoon I stopped in at Panera's Bread Co. in Hershey, and there was Jack and
Betty Chappell.
So we enjoyed a nice lunch and Jack said that he would like to un-load the rest of his
S Gauge model railroad stuff.

He has a load of Perma Built odds and ends, some miscellaneous model railroad parts,
plus some Brass Omnicom (?) Locomotives and Southwind S Scale parts.

Knowing Jack real well, make him an offer he can't refuse, he just might take it!

Jack will be sending me more information, but in the meanwhile, his phone number is
570-875-4205
Fax 570- 875-2016

Hey, you can start your own S Gauge business!

"S"ee Ya,
Bill Fraley
