This is true, and if one of my friends replies he'll say the only 
way to really get a model clean is ..., but you have to consider 
that if this is someone's first time painting a brass model they 
probebly don't want to spend a couple of hundred dollars getting set 
up to do it just right.

I suggest cleaning the model first with dish soap and water to get 
all the grease off. From the point it first goes to cleaning, you 
cannot touch it with your hands. Immediately blow the water off with 
your airbrush with no paint. Then wash it in any mild acid, even 
vinegar will work. Scrub it with a toothbrush. I rinse models with 
distilled water. It seems to have even fewer minerals than alcohol.

Here's another important tip: if you are going to bake the paint 
(highly recommended if you are using Scalecoat) then bake the model 
once before you paint anything. Something will probably fall off, 
and it's better to find that out now than after it's painted.
