I observed and operated the NYC Mikado at a local hobby shop. And I have concluded, from that limited experience at least, that the engine works best only with the Lionel TMCC cab controller and attendant electronics. My O gauge buddies say the same is true of other recent Lionel O gauge equipment. So what I am suggesting, is perhaps that some-not all-but some of the operating problems may have been due to the "nature of the beast," and that perhaps the modelers using the Mikado do not have TMCC. Lionel no doubt planned it that way thereby to sell more TMCC units. Roy Inman
