and he notes -

eBay has done that for years. They've improved a lot since I started
selling six years ago. There was a time when an auction took a day or two
to get listed and crashes were frequent, especially in the evening when a
lot of auctions were closing and hits were at their peak. They also had a
period where whole pages of listings would not open and if they did would
not accept bids. Most of this went away with new operating systems and
improved software. They used to credit or extend the listings when they
messed up, but they don't do that any more - unless you know someone and
that's changed too. Actually, except for the occasional error, they've been
pretty good and generally fix a problem in a few hours, especially if it
involves a Power Seller's listing.

Some auctions have problems when viewed with Netscape or Mozilla as they
have the listings geared to Explorer. A lot of java in the description can
cause the page to hang up. One trick that drove them nuts was the seller's
location file. For a long time it would accept URLs or banners but they
stopped that and now it has a limited character length.

"Peek-a-boo" auctions are still a nuisance though and I don't think they'll
ever fix it completely. The best way to insure finding an item again is to
"watch" it on your home page.

The poll results are in....... To REPLY to the list, use REPLY ALL, to reply
to the sender, use REPLY. I do NOT know if this works on all e-mail software,
but it works on some of the most common ones. For those of you on DIGEST mode,
all REPLY messages go to the list.
