Dear Dave,
I have been watching this thread while I was in China this past
week. Over the years we have seen lots of different PFE reefers offered
in S scale. American Models, Crown Models, PRS, Walp sides, Scenery
Unlimited, Kinsman all offered these at one time or another. I know
that we have offered 3 different paint schemes covering the 20's to the
70's (last photo I have of a wooded PFE reefer in 1971 in Mexico) with
additional numbers each time. Our next offering of a PFE 40' wooden
reefer will be this fall and feature the first double logo scheme with
the UP shield in red/white/blue. These are the rebuilt cars with a
steel roof and Ajax brakes (similar to the PFE/WP cars we expect the end
of April except orange instead of yellow). These were first seen in the
40's and were very common in the 50's. Three numbers will be offered,
but if anyone is interested, I will make some with no numbers on a
pre-order basis. You would need to order 6 cars (one mini-case). Like
the DM&IR un-numbered ore cars, we can offer these with the code 110
wheels installed. The price would be $250 for the 6 cars plus S/H. I
would need to know by the end of this month so the purchase order could
reflect this change. A $50 deposit will hold your order for 6 cars, We
could do 50 cars too.
We still have six PRS 1952 PFE reefers in stock. If anyone is
interested the price is $40 less T/C.
Best regards,
Don
