I saw many MILW horizontal rib cars in MPLS in the early 80's.  
I'd have to dig out some old slides to provide any detail about them.  

Thanks Bill (and others who replied). It does help explain how some 
of those ancient Milwaukee Road rib sides were going back and forth 
between the 'Beer Line' (on the Milw. Rd.) and Jefferson Junction 
malt plants (on the C&NW). It was seeing those decrepit cars that 
started the interest in having a horizontal ribbed box car in S 
scale.
