Roy-

I have never seen a Sunshine Models auto rack either in kit form or built-up
except for the photo of the item recently up for bid on eBay. I do have the
instructions and plans for an old Quality Craft HO 85' tri-level auto rack.
The plans are available from the NMRA Kalmbach library. I suppose QC just
never got around to offering an S scale version perhaps due to the 85'
length???

Accu-Rail has an HO tri-level auto rack in kit form. Neither the Quality
Craft nor the Accu-Rail kits appear difficult to construct. Either or both of
the QC or Accu-Rail kits could be used as inspiration to scratch build an S
scale auto-rack. The Accu-rail kit, being injected molded plastic, is highly
detailed.

I have not been able to locate any prototype measurements or drawings but a
60's/70's era tri-level auto-rack appears to be basically a flat car similar
to Bill Wade's very nice F39 pig flat with a rack mounted on it.

OK, the talk of the auto carrier on eBay a short while back whetted by
appetite for one or more of the little beasties on my layout-to-be.
Is there anyone on either list who would care to tackle creating either a
four or six-car auto carrier in S, either as a kit or RTR? And further, is
there even enough interest to make it worthwhile? I have pretty much given
up on the notion of finding one of those Sunshine kits, ala the one on eBay.
K-Line makes a very nice six-car version in O scale; MTH has made several
four-car 027-scaled versions. Ours could come with or without couplers and
wheelsets, and I presume without cars, as far as I am concerned. But the
majority would obviously rule here, and I would be so delighted to have one
running around that I am completely flexible. Also willing to help do
research, etc.
Cheers :)
