Those units probably worked east with the N-W one, likely though Kansas City. However, UP had SD-50s black-lined and being prepped by Mid-America Car in KC in '03 for sale and shipment to others--overflow leasing is catching on again; Model-wise; nowadays you could probably justify units from the big 4--UP, BNSF, NW, CSX, appearing anywhere. I think CSX units have the same air-horn that Amtrak uses, yet I hear them here at times other than when our trains (3, 4, 303, 304, etc) are due, and any visual I am able to get bears that out.
