Yes a lot of kids have cell phones and some grownups act like kids

In a sense you were preaching to the choir when you gave the student 
the book on CNR colors. He's already hooked but the vast majority of 
kids today want what other kids have and unlike the toys of my youth, 
toy trains ain't a hot item. Give one a Gundam game or a Harry Potter 
book and you've got a happy kid.

But sometimes it takes a generation to spark the interest. My 
son-in-law built and HO layout for my grandson. He played with a 
while and lost interest. My son-in-law has it back and has been 
working on it. Maybe the kid'll be interested again when he's in his 30's.

A spark today, a flame tomorrow - so the old bromide goes...
