Anyone interested in sides for a series of PS-built commuter cars unlike
anything else known to have been built?
The prototype group of cars is Rock Island 2700-2719, built in 1949 by
Pullman-Standard. They were interchangeable with intercity steam-heated
cars and sometimes reached Iowa in their special assignments. They are
100-seats, with walkover seats, 64-volt electrical systems, and not all a/c
at delivery, though it was added later. They had two sets of sliding doors
per side, a floor that was about 8 inches lower than standard, and a row of
windows that was lower accordingly. There is an HO-scale kit available at
twinstarcars.com that shows this beast, along with several others Ross has
offered.
HOWEVER, there is no need to contact Ross unless you are interested in the
adapto-4-wheel flat car and can justify at least 36 of them in S scale.
Just get back to me off list if you are interested in the commuter car. OK?
