I have to chuckle at the words "rapid prototyping", because the
process is anything but that. I suppose it is if you have all the
front work such as research, design and engineering and CAD work
done since that is a major part of the job.
However if you want SLA work done or a resin kit made, Jim King is a
quality guy with a quality process. We carry his O Scale and HO
kits here at Des Plaines Hobbies and they are very well done. If he
does any S Scale we would be happy to carry it.
It was a bit of deja vu Jim's mentioning Brosnan Forest a couple
weeks ago. Sue and I were there and spent some time with Jim having
a mini manufacturers forum. Besides the SRR gon Jim had a sample of
an HO SRR waffle side boxcar that he is doing for Wright Trak
Models. Pretty neat stuff. The SRR Historcal Society meets are
among the most interesting and enjoyable that I've ever attended.
No, we didn't get a cab ride in 4501 (that was Chattanooga a few
years ago), but we did get to see 55 year old color movies taken by
the company photographer, and shown by him too. Not too often you
can watch some recorded history and have it narrated by the guy that
recorded it.
You can contact Jim through his website at
