I don't know anything about the $138 NCE system.
I only ran programmed locos with the Prodigy Express, so I cannot
comment on its ease of programming.
Two years ago I bought the NCE PowerHouse Pro 5-amp "starter" system
for two reasons: (1) I liked the LCD screen with its plain English
commands; (2) I could operate trains with one hand and hold a glass
of liquid refreshment in the other.
