Hi Bob,

I understand completely your "frugality"!  Old wood is sometimes the
best as it has stood the test of time and all warpage is usually
already over with.  For example, the school in which I teach did away
with their old wooden bleachers in the gym (there was a concern over
lawsuits due to splinters).  The construction crews were just throwing
away THOUSANDS of board-feet of 5/4 lumber that was stable and dry for
over 30 years.  I managed to salvage only a few boards.  I planed them
down and ripped them to 4 1/2 width and cross cut to 8 foot lengths,
and they are awaiting future use.  

Remind me to tell you about a spray booth I salvaged (thanks to OSHA
regulations).
