Bert et al --

I know I am not Ed L., but nevertheless I can answer your question.

NYC 19000-series cabooses were painted brown with black underbody and black
roof. Roofwalks were brown. All handrails were yellow except for the
following: The handrails on each end between the center post and the adjacent
post were brown; i.e., the portions of the handrails within which are the brake
staff and the ladder. Step edges and step treads were yellow.

Note: Although the "official" roof color was black, several photos show brown
roofs.

Depending on the era in which these cars were painted/repainted, they could
have heralds or not. When heralds were present, they could have had black
backgrounds (earlier) or car-color backgrounds (later). Consult photos!
