I'm sure there are several ways to change the "mode" you get your e-mails. The
way I just took was to go to the home page
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/S-Scale/>, then clicked on Edit Membership
towards the center top of the page. That takes you to a screen that in Step 2
has options for Individual Email, Daily Digest and Web Only (very small print).
Daily Digest will give you at least one e-mail a day with all that day's posts.
You will get one digest for every 15 posts that day (i.e. if today has 16
posts, you'll receive a digest of 15 posts and a digest of 1 post). An
advantage is all the e-mails are in one spot. A disadvantage is that there is
a lot more trash to sift through, especially if posters don't trim down the
message they are replying to, and there is a bit more work when replying to a
message (subject line will say Digest ...).
Web Only is great for when you won't have access to e-mail, need to "drop out"
for a short time, or are just swamped with e-mails. When you get back, you can
change the setting and don't have to worry about unsubscribing and
resubscribing. In the meantime, you can go to the group's home page and read
any messages therer.
<Personal note> For Step 3 you can select between Traditional and Fully
Featured e-mails. Fully Featured has lots of bells and whistles, but from
working as a computer programmer, web designer and in computer security, I'm
concerned about receiving that type of e-mails (more chances for "bad" things
to happen - more security risks). I like Traditional because it is only text.
<End personal note> I've never received a Digest with Fully Featured, so am
not sure how that looks.
