I've noticed that on one brand of flex track, the rails are wider than they
whould be... intentionally out of gauge, I guess, for the sake of those who use
tight curves and long wheel-base locos, 3-axle trucks, or whatever. Is that
whay you mean, Bert?

On a related note... "IF" I am able to work things out so that I am able to
produce the gauges I'm designing, my gauges will definitely be of the correct
gauge and not "padded" (as I call it) like any existing gauges.

Could you help me understand what that statement means? I would
assume track gauges would be made to published NASG/NMRA track
standards, or is that what this means...?
