Hi all,
My name is John i live in Perh Western Australia and i belong to the
West Australian branch of S Scale (SN3 1/2 OR 1/64 Scale). We get
about 30 people once a month along to our meetings. Our kits dont
come from a manufacturer, but are made in two of three members back
yards. There is also a good following of people in Queensland,
Tasmania and South Australia where the lines in the past were 3 foot
6 inch. We dont have a big following of personnel but we have a
magazine that comes out quarterly called the AUSTRALIAN SN MODELLER.
It comprises of about 28 pages, front/back/centre in Colour the rest
in black and white. Most articles come from members throughout
Aust. Articles comprise of home/club layouts. Personal layout
described from start of layout to end (a layout is never finished).
Books/videos/dvds on narrow gauge usually from the 60's/70's. Help
on all forms of modelling SN3 1/2 (Modelling ideas). Heritage Page,
tourist railways, Scratch building, and Product Reviews and General
News and a whole lot more. All this information comes from our
members and friends. With the small amount of members that we have
the magazine is struggling the find articles every three months and i
personnally believe that the magazine may need to move to 4 monthly
or even 6 monthly until we can build enough articles to move back to
a quarterly publication. Its a great magazine and i read it from
front to back and i think we pay $25 AUS a year for the privilege.
On another note if they were to put a magazine type style on a WEB
SITE i would be involved in that as well. Just cant get enough
information. I dont read every entry you guys put out because i have
to go to work/sleep, But most things are very very interesting.
DCC/Wiring/Building S Scale Buildings/Figures etc. Sorry about the
length of this article. This is a great web site. Well done to all.
Regard John
