Harold...Sending the Table of Contents of every issue of the new S-
zine to a large number of various Yahoo Groups would undoubtedly
bring many folks in for a quick looksee. If the articles were
written with prototype dimensions and S scale photos for illustrative
purposes, the goal of promoting S scale and attracting newcomers
might well be achieved. I read both the PRR (thanks to Lane, Jr.)
and the B&O e-zines and enjoy both of them. I am even planning to
model a flat car load after an article in the PRR e-zine. This
concept would certainly get folks to think about S scale even if they
did not switch. Most folks consider a switch of modeling scales at
one time or another during their time in the hobby -- frequently
after a relocation where the old layout had to be torn down. There
is a steady exodus of folks from HO. Many go to O or narrow gauge of
some sort. All we S guys need to do is divert maybe 10% of that
steady stream to the S scale size and everyone would probably be
happy. A steady source of S material might provide the impetus for
such a diversion. Just a thought and, of course, I could be wrong.
Cheers...Ed L.
