Friends: Over the weekend the Council Bluffs newspaper had a paragraph about the completion of the roundhouse:
"Our reporter spotted the a business car from the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha being moved to the main yards of the Great Plains Northern Terminal last Friday. Upon further inspection he spotted a few remaining workers putting the final sections of roofing, setting the smoke jacks and final coat of gray trim paint. An overworked switch crew spotted the car on the turntable for an anticipated grand opening. It is expected that the other member railroads will send proper officials for this major event despite the fact of the recent stock market crash!" "When we approached the officials in the business car, we were greeted by Mr. Harriman himself. He assured us that the problems on Wall Street would be taken care of by the fine officials of the Hoover administration. Furthermore he declared that, his railroad was in a strong financial condition and could weather any turndown in business for the foreseeable future. He also felt certain that The St. Paul road and the Northwestern were in sound financial strength and would remain pillars of the communities that they serve so well!"
