Well now, todays digest was interesting. I appreciate the link to the Hulett
loader video,
that was interesting. I don't know about the discussion about serving nuclear
fish at Red
Lobster, I am allergic to shell fish so I don't go there. I will make a note
of that to Walt
Jopke; make sure we consider the impact of nuclear fish at the 2010 convention
in Duluth
Minnesota. I also thought hard about the 4 minute posting. I might guess that
he ment
he only had four minutes of battery and that would not be enough time to chew
us out for
talking about the Penn Central on the other hand, he might have ment he only
had four
minutes of battery and we really should get off the subject but then again he
didn't have
enough battery to monitor us so we had another day of foolishness before he
would have
his battery charged. The third possibility is that he only had four minutes of
battery and
that was his excuse for not giving us meaningful news from the Convention so we
would
have something else to talk about. Personally, I would like to mention the
tragic loss the
railroad world experienced when the Burlington, Northern Pacific and SP&S
formed the
Burlington Northern but I won't do that because I don't want to start another
discussion to
get us in trouble.
On the S Scale front, I have been spending more time on the Minnesota Heartland
but right
now it is mainly getting things cleaned up and organized. Months of neglect
have put me
in the spot where I cannot find tools and supplies easily resulting in wasted
time. I also
have the branch line "operating" so every couple of evenings, I need to move
cars in and
out of the industries in Centralsota to keep the customers happy. I also did
maintenance
on the S operating layout I have over at the Jackson Street Roundhouse Museum.
After
about 10 months, I was told the SW-1 had died and needed maintenance so I
bought
another SW-1 for backup and brought it over to the museum. Well the new engine
didn't
help at all, I found it was a bad controller. When I got a new controller, the
original and
the back up engine ran just fine I am guessing the layout has put in a couple
of thousand
hours of running since last December 1. The layout is Maywood Junction from
the S Helper
track planning book and like the Energizer Bunny, it just keeps on running.
Well enough for now, good evening from the Minnesota Heartland where the
Burlington
Northern is but a bad dream (as is the Pig Sty blue Great Northern scheme
Walt).
