Hi Earl and All

I don't think S is as much a hard sell as it is under represented to
the public. While I agree that Ed's layout is a master piece and I am
also a scale guy now having been converted, I feel it is a disservice
to S to fail to show both sides. How many people start with hi rail
and convert as they get into trains. The AF style draws the kids for
the action and the scale draws the parents to be told about the S.

I have taken a layout table to a number of shows in different areas
over the last years. I show both scale and hi rail on the layout and
have found that both have their draws to the new people and the
existing RR crowds. While most HO and O guys get to drooling over the
scale equipment, I still sell a lot of hi rail to the new customers
and those who remember the good ol' days of AF and tin plate. Also
people prefer the AF for their kids for obvious handling reasons.
Some people have bought with the idea of converting their stock to
scale later on when the kids are older.
