Hi Andre, My "paint booth" is an area in my workshop with a
filter/moisture trap installed on a short piece of pipe and nailed on
to the workbench leg. I've got a snap fitting on it that takes my air
compressor hose so it is easy to hook it up.Also have apaasche brush
holder nailed on the egde of the bench top so I can hang the brush
there when I need both hands free. The "paint booth" is a large
sturdy cardboard box that I set the models on TOP of(not inside!) The
box is handy to test the spray pattern on before shooting the model,
and raises them up to a good viewing height. When painting on top of
the box I set the models on a piece of old tee shirt or towel material
rolled up so as to hold them at about a 45 degree angle, so there is
little overspray going into the air, most gets absorbed by the cloth.
Water based paint dries almost immediately so after painting one side
it only takes a few seconds with a heat gun before the paint is dry
enough to turn the car around and paint the other side. About half the
time I paint and weather by holding the car in one hand and spraying
with the other hand, this allows a better choice of position and angle
of attack( wear a rubber glove unless you like boxcar red
fingernails). I've got a fan in the workshop nearby that can exhaust
the air outside but I rarely find it necessary, models paint jobs use
a very small quantity of paint and I spray only water based and clean
up with water so the fumes are minimal.....dave
