"S"ome things never change. The Pennsy, in it's wisdom, chased
tonnage and went broke. The NYC, in it's infinite wisdom, chased
profits and went broke also. Even today, 40 years later, there are
some few Pennsy modelers who think the weight of their trains is a
measure of quality. Courtesy dictates that I not mention their names.

Meanwhile, the NYC guys just roll along chasing the almighty buck
which is rapidly slipping out of sight. If we don't learn from
history, it will repeat itself. Maybe the UP has it right -- find a
coal mine, work it to death, and spend the money elsewhere having a
good time.

The BNSF is truly insignificant compared to the mighty titans of the
past. It is just a newborn hardly out of the cradle.

Only my high degree of so-called professionalism keeps me from saying
more.

Maerry Christmas....(I'm first!)....Ed L.
