Mike: The Washington Post! I'm impressed. I think you should look into the current technology used to earthquake-proof buildings. The footings are set on rollers that allow the earth to move under them without shaking the building so badly. Maybe you should drill out your cow footings (hooves) and put little ball bearings in them. Youn might have to enlarge the hooves to achieve a more workable mass...buy hey, you're already in hi-rail, aren't you?

But something did happen, a cow fell over and has to be noted.
