Over the past year or so there have been some bus posts on the 1/64 Vintage Vehicles list.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/64VintageVehicles/ In particular, there was a link to a site with paper model buses in HO, which one member reported enlarged easily to S scale and looked good once assembled. More recently a couple of members from Australia showed conversions of the Matchbox bus which might give some ideas - a pair of them could be spliced to make a similar bus to the Newgard Yellow Coach with a good bit of work.
