Hi Ed --

I like to use Testors "rubber" on the wheel face, back and axle (don't paint
the treads) when the wheel sets are in a plain bearing truck (they leak
oil). The umber colors are also useful for wheelsets in both plain and
roller bearing trucks to represent dirt. For new roller bearing wheels,
some rust color is also appropriate. Go look at the real thing for
guidance...

Have fun!

----I'd like some opinions on painting brass wheelsets. I've been using
prepainted
wheels such as SHS, AM, etc, so I've never tried to paint brass wheels. What
are
the common colors and brand of paint used?
