I have recently been contracted by an HO resin kit mfr to produce 2 new kits
for him. Both kits will be offered in S after the HO ones are in
production.
These kits are the PRR X29D 40' box and SAL 38' ventilated box with flat
panel/riveted ends. The PRR box has never been produced in S, except
possibly in brass but I don't have that history. The SAL box, "for sure"
never produced in S, is similar to the CG vent box I produced a couple years
ago. The main differences are roof, ends and length (SAL is 2 feet
shorter). Target prices for each will be $70 including decals and couplers,
less trucks. The "usual" 1-pc resin body, separate underframe and a sheet
of details will comprise the bulk of each kit; separate details as
appropriate will be included.
All of these projects will be produced in parallel to the 44-ton GE, now
under development but partially stalled until I can make arrangements with a
local shortline to measure a Phase IV they occasionally use. The SAL B7
roundroof box is still in the que but not committed until I get enough
reservations.
