Your right. I liked the old SF Hi or Bi levels that Amtrak used better then 
their newer ones on the same comsist when I rode them in the 90's.

kind of like "Metroliner", and "Metroliner Service".....the first time that 
happenned (when the Metroliners were still running but being replaced by the 
AEM-7 toasters and Amfleet cars) I was disappointed on my trip to NYC from 
Philly.....For some reason (probably ? more weight and self propelled) the 
Metroliners rode much smoother than the Amfleet cars...haven't ridden An Acela 
trainset yet.... and I still call the rest of the trains clockers, metroliner 
service, Florida Trains, and Acelas... try to teach this dog new tricks, I dare 
ya <grins>
 
and If I cold take a 6 car Metroliner from DC to Boston, I would in a second !! 
very comfortable ride......
