Gavin,
Thank you.
The baseball field is in scale, at least the infield. The pitching mound is a
scale 10 inches high, as the lines are scale 3” wide. they are suppose to be
2.5”. LOL I could only get plastic strips in 2 or 3” scale. Batters box is
scale as well as home plate and the bases. Outfield is not, as it would have
been 2 to 3 times longer.
The scoreboard is like Fenway Park, as I used 1/4” vinyl letters, numbers and
striping.
The wall and lights are copied from a minor league park in Hagerstown MD that
goes back to 1931. They do have a “Stadium Tavern” behind the left field wall
as mine is more centered, the tavern. the tavern is from Bar Mills, as is
called something else after a real tavern. Someone made me a professional
sign the way Bar Mills had the sign made for the correct tavern.
Many of the signs on the wall are AF decals from Dave at LBR, consumer products
like Simmons, etc. or off the internet. The back stop is plastic rods and
wedding veil material painted.
There is a black cat running from 3rd to 2nd which is in honor of the Curse of
the Black Cat Chicago Cubs, 1969. Cubs where in first place in 1969 like in
September, I think. They where playing the Mets and somehow a black cat ran
out in the field. Cubs lost the pennant to the Mets who amazingly beat the
Baltimore Orioles who had one of baseballs best seasons. Now to find a goat
for the curse of the Billy Goat, Chicago Cubs, 1945.
Mike
