Hi All,

I am happy to report that I am officially finished with the Pennsylvania
Railroad RS-1 engine kit. This is an S-scale (1:64) model that took me
exactly 12 weeks to build, paint, and assemble. A lot of patience was
required, but I am very pleased with the end result.

I have completely and thoroughly documented the construction of this
model on my web site. There are over 140 photos in the 13-page article.
You can see the end result and the article here:

(click on the "Building the Kit" topic near the bottom of the page to
see the whole story)

I had never built a model engine, so there were some first-time
challenges. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the project even though there
were times of extreme frustration, long hours, and several late nights
(especially in the last week). Knuckle-biting was also required at
times. :-)

I had set myself the goal of completing this model before the February
19th "Greater Houston Train Show" here in Stafford, Texas (south-west of
Houston). I hope to have the engine running on the Houston S Gaugers'
club layout this Saturday (it needs some running time to wear off some
of the "new-ness"). If you are in town, please come by and take a look.
Here's the show's flyer:

By the way, the last page of my online article states my conclusion
about the kit.

Enjoy,
- Peter.
