In the case of the MILW box, the minimum reservation count will be 100,
including dealers, because it cannot be produced in HO.  The kit would be
sold less trucks, couplers and decals (maybe) for $70.  If decals are
included, the price would be $90.  A decal sheet is now the most expensive
single part of any kit.  Decal paper prices have tripled in the past 10-12
months and corresponding inks have increased proportionally.  As more RTR
stuff comes out, decals are losing popularity.  Basic supply and demand
economics.

 

Any rolling stock kit that I produce in HO will cut the 100-kit S minimum to
around 70, depending on the prototype.  I **MUST** be able to spread CAD
time over 2 projects to justify smaller runs.
