John Hempfling here. I am working on a Lehigh Valley 500 ton coaling tower. My
question concenss the roof of the coal bunker and the head house and the head
house  car door cover.  You could also include the coal hoist and car cover
shed in this. queation. My research using pictures available is inconclusive. I
seem to remember a picture of a coal bunker similar to this that the railroad
had stripped down to remove safety problems and that the bunker roof amd others
where missing. If the bunker roof was concrete was it covered with tar or some
other sealer. Pictures seem to indicate some other surface other than concrete.
There may be more than one answer to this depending on what the RR wanted to
spend on construction. Any help would be appreciated.  There should be an
attachment of the tower. First time trying this.
