S scalers,

I bought my first bottle (and tube of the gel type) a couple years ago at a
show at a large scale show in York, PA.

Yes, their products are a bit more expensive but I'm always a firm believer
that; for all the time & money we spend to research and build
a model to be proud of, who wants to take the chance and have it fall apart
years down the road? When it comes down to a simple thing as to what adhesives
to use, we certainly don't want to wonder long-term, if our model joints are
going to hold up or not. I know I don't, and that's why I use
Sinbad. (Now, that's what I call a great commercial!) No, but seriously....

After being 'turned-on' to it by a recommendation from a fellow steel mill
modeler, I was convinced it's definitely the best thing around.
The word is, after various types of adhesives were used to bond that grey ABS
plastruct plastic to itself or anything else, the joint would fail after
several months to a couple years. But the Sinbad brand of ACC would prove to be
everlasting so far for me. I'll agree with John on that.
One bit of advice is, if you're going to use the accelerator (and it does work
very well on thicker styrene) on styrene thinner than .030, that styrene will
tend to
end up EXTREMELY brittle after setting up (which is immediate). The thinner the
styrene stock, the more careful youl need to be about applying accelerator.
I'm not sure if styrene reacts that way with all brands of accelerators but my
experience is that you generally don't need the accelerator.
If you decide to use accelerator use it VERY sparingly. I do keep all of it
(liquid glue, gel glue and accelerator) refrigerated when not in use (after
they are opened).
I feel MEK solvent is still the best for Styrene to Styrene applications,
unless you're in a hurry.

It is SINBAD glue. Bought it at a show (I think Columbus) and have used it for
years (on everything) and never a break.

I don't recall who he is, either, but I bought a bottle from him at the S Spree
in Columbus, OH, in 2004. I'll go "dumpster diving" on my workbench and see if
I can dig up anything.
