Insulating and powering the frog simplifies the switch.The points can then
be electrically connected to their adjacent rails and always be correct
polarity to not cause a short if a wheel back somehow contacts them.Powering
the frog from contacts on a switch machine is much more reliable than powering
it thru the points.
It's not a lot of work to do this once the decision is made. If one doesn't
have a diagram of the switch machine contacts it's simple detective work to
figure out which contact goes with which switch direction and once it's done
it's done for life......dave
