Hi Pieter,

Yes, I probably came out a little strong in my thoughts.

But I think he has some on bid at around 200 or so, as I can see paying that if
I was into it. I am not sure how many hours it takes, but I am sure he has a
market for his cars. I did not see any on eBay for 800. I think he had a
engine for 600 as that is a engine.

Hey, email him, as I just did, mainly because he lives in Scarborough Maine and
I know that town well. So I just said hi to him and told him that his work
came up on a S scale list and he does good work. then I told him a little on
how we go to Maine for biking and hiking every October since 1987. And I had
some auto work done at Prime Motors in his town.

I will let you know if I get a response.

Mike

Hi Mike;

I don't think anyone was making fun of these models. While I would not pay $800
for a custom painted and weathered version of a $40 freight car, I agree they
are really superbly weathered. He knows his market, and since he is selling
through Ebay clearly it is the market driving the prices, not the builder
setting a high initial price.

I would certainly like to learn more about his techniques. I know I've seen an
article about building his layout (which is also extraordinary), maybe in O
Scale magazine.
