On the bottom/base of the hopper is a narow ledge that runs the length of discharge cute area. It's like an outward facing L. The edge of the upper part fits there and not in the deep channel inside of that. Having seen these critters in the wild, that's how they appear. What's stopped me, besides too many other projects, is figuring how much weight to add.
