Bill,

Interesting comparison. I do not have four units of one manufacturer to make a
comparison. I have two AM FP-7 units, a dummy Omnicon B F-7 and an SHS F-3
A-unit. With just one AM FP unit, I can pull 30 cars around my layout.
Although I model the CGW, October 1953, I will not be operating six-unit sets
lugging a long freight. My layout just can't handle that. And in fact the
real CGW on occasion operated shorter trains with two and three-unit consists.
Oh, and, right, my SHS F-3 A-unit also manages the 30 car consist.

Tom

Subject: {S-Scale List} SHS = Super Hauling Stuff

I just had my A B B A set of SHS F units pulling a 60 car brass train at
"Shay" speeds. They are straight up out of the box. My A B B A set of AM FA
units would not pull 55 cars. It is ironic that the Pennsy S Models N&W H9
hopper pilot model actually groans like a real car going around the turns in
a heavy train. I have no idea how or why it does but it sure sounds real.

I guess technically these would drag the EM-1 backwards in a tug o war!
(:->) I am not going to try it.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
