Bill,
Sorry, didn't mean to imply that automotive bulbs alone are sufficient.  As you 
stated earlier one electronic circuit breaker is needed for protecting your NCE 
command station (power supply) from overloads, especially if it is powering 
several districts (buss wires).  It appears you already wired bulbs for buss 
wires, and they're acting as they should, sort of an electrical "shock 
absorber".
