 No, correctness is mostly in the eye of the beholder.What really matters is 
that we know how the various time periods looked so we can make the models and 
layouts look plausible. I tend to divide them up as transition era  , then 
elimination of roof walk era with some cars having them and newer cars not, 
then end of caboose era,the  increase of graffiti era,and the contemporary till 
today era. Much motive power and freight cars can suit multiple periods with 
differences in  paint, weathering, usage, and tagging. As we compress 
dimensions to fit our scenes into our layout rooms we can also compress eras to 
create the effect we want. Memory can be selective so we use that to our 
advantage as we create 1:64 scale worlds....DaveBranum
