Last weekend, Steve Doyle sent me a photo of his progress, it inspired me to do
some work. I added in a PCX4 to route power to the four blocks or districts of
my layout. Dave Hamilton has this on his layout and it makes power routing and
trouble shooting easier. It was an easy install. Still not up to what Steve
had done so I wanted to start another project. I choose one that began with
negative progress. I tore out the interchange trackage between Marilyn and
DaRange hidden storage. As most projects do, this got a bit more involved as i
wanted the new trackwork to look better as well as be smoother. Going through
my trackwork drawer, I found a number 10 old pullman turnout kit. i checked it
against my diagram and found it was a bit short of the spec for number 10 but
still a nice kit. I have taken it apart and will build it piece by piece to
make sure it works well. Funny, the number 10 was put away because I had no
room for it and now I am using it in a place where a number 5 could work but
the number 10 just makes the trackwork look better. Besides, it was an area I
had extra room. I will get a photo posted when the turnout is complete and
installed.
My schedule cleared up so tonight I am going to Jeff Saine's house for a PPSSW
meeting. Jeff has been building and then unbuilding his layout sine the
convention in 2010. Each of his ideas has been good, it will be nice to see
what he is doing. I will not bring my number 10 project but I will bring my
turnout making jigs to produce a turnout or two while I am visiting.
By the way Steve... why have you not posted that photo of the expansion of the
coach yard? I know your fans would appreciate that and it would show that when
all is said and done, we occasionally do get something done up here in the
PPSSW.
